Surface Refinishing FAQs & Remodeling Resources

Frequently Asked Questions About Refinishing

  • Is "reglazing" the same as "refinishing"?

Yes. Reglazing, resurfacing, and refinishing are all common industry terms that describe the process of applying a new, durable coating to an existing surface.

  • How long does the refinishing process take?

A standard bathtub or countertop refinishing job usually takes our technicians only 4–6 hours to complete.

  • How long do I wait before using the refinished surface?

With Miracle Method's advanced coatings, the surface is typically ready to use within 24 hours. Your technician will confirm the exact cure time upon completion.

  • How long will the new finish last?

With proper care, our refinished surfaces can extend the life of your fixture for 10 to 15 years or more, similar to the life of a new fixture.

  • Does the refinished surface look painted?

No. Our multi-layered, hi-tech acrylic coating is professionally applied with HVLP equipment to create a deep gloss that closely resembles new porcelain or factory finish.

  • Can you repair chips and cracks before refinishing?

Absolutely. Our process includes meticulous repair of chips, cracks, scratches, and rust spots, which are filled and sanded smooth before the final coating is applied.

  • Is white the only color available?

No. While white is the most popular, we offer a wide variety of solid colors and our Natural Accents® stone-look finishes for countertops and tile.

  • Will the refinishing process create strong odors?

New acrylic finishes contain necessary solvents. We use high-volume ventilation systems to exhaust odors safely outside. Most odor dissipates within 24–48 hours as the finish cures.

  • Why is Miracle Method’s MM-4 bonding agent better than acid etching?

Our exclusive MM-4 agent creates a superior chemical bond without the use of corrosive, dangerous acids, which can damage the original surface and plumbing. MM-4 is safer and more effective.

  • Do I need to replace my faucet before the service?

Yes. All plumbing, including faucets and drains, must be replaced or repaired before we arrive. We are always the last trade in a remodeling project to protect the new finish.
